The Story of Ventelling

Medieval Jewish thought is not neatly bounded by political or geographical limits, but it has a recognizable shape. The Almohad regime was so unwelcoming to Jews that Abraham ibn Ezra and my monadies fled. And there were still other Jewish thinkers who responded to other currents within the stream of Islamic intellectual history. Next week we turn our attention back to events in the Islamic heartlands.
