The Medici Series Review

Catherine de Medici was a grieving widow. Her husband had just been killed in a jousting accident. She's left as regent for her sickly, weak-minded, 15-year-old son Francis II. Catherine effectively rules France through three successive sons who are king until she dies at 70 years old.
