The Origins of Hair

I've always wondered about hair follicles. Do they, do they kind of take plugs out? You know like when you are planting tulips and you have a bulb,. I don't know, it's a bulb planter. And so like that, how does that work? Does that chemical go to that location at the follicle? Or what is the... God there's a really good name for that.
