Investment banks used to be very, this is where the term white collar came from. They were like fancy people who owned a fancy company and put their money on the line when they made investments. As soon as Lehman Brothers went public, Goldman went public, that was no longer true for the partners of those banks. And suddenly the results of it were not as much on their shoulders anymore.
