The Relationship Between Fungi and Plants

There's a whole group of fungi that help plants, and they form these relationships with plants. The roots called mycorrhizae are involved in the regulation of the global carbon cycle. So you can actually connect a fungus on the root of a plant to global climate change today. And so this is one of the reasons why people like you, my ecologists, celebrate the existence of fungi all around the world. They're hugely important.
