The Importance of Open Source in a Database Company
In 2007, Postgres wasn't really on the map. Oracle had lost its cluster by 2007. It was pretty obvious to us in 2007 that if you wanted to have that kind of big product or an infrastructure product at the database layer, it had to be open source. The thing that we did better than everyone else was we and me personally, answered ridiculously fast as close to 24 seven as possible.
