The Early Church Vened Images of the Dead
The apostles and the early church venerated images in a way that their jewish brothers and sisters and their gentile brothers and sisters wouldn't have been too surprised by. Early christians probably held on to relics or other visible reminders of them like their cloak remember it's a visible object that directs the eyes of the mind to the form the saint themselves. In tobitt chapter four verse 17 it says pour out your food and your wine on the grave of the righteous but do not give it to sinners so even there the grave itself can be receiving certain things.
