The Limits of Plan Economy in the Soviet Union
In the Soviet Union, GOSplon could only plan a couple of thousand strategic goods. This is because they didn't have enough computational power to do more than that. But computer scientists now say you can solve linear equations this big with 12 million people working on it every day. The current estimate I have is that you can do this for 100 billion different production methods - which is more than any modern sophisticated economy at this point.
