There is no evidence that following a vegetarian diet or a semi-vegetarian diet has an independent protective effect on all-cause mortality. Red meat intake was inversely associated with cardiovascular disease mortality in men and with cancer mortality in women in Asian countries. These are sort of these twisted voodoo gymnastics narratives that don't make any sense. And I think the most compelling narrative is that we were eating more meat and getting unique nutrients into our bodies for this to happen.
