The Energy Vendor: Germany's Energy Transition Plan
After the war, European leaders fleshed out a plan to accelerate Europe's long-run transition off of fossil fuels. They asked people to turn down their thermostats, band Russian coal, and invested in more renewables. At the same time, they spent a ton of money to get liquefied natural gas from other parts of the world. As Europe reduced its dependence on Russian fossil fuels, it saw its greenhouse gas emissions increase.
