The Legacy of Walter Rodney

Walter Rodney was born in Georgetown, the capital and largest city of what was then still the colony of British Guyana. He went on to pursue a PhD in history at SOAS, the School of Oriental and African Studies. Important to understanding Rodney's thought and trajectory is the role model provided by another intellectual from the Caribbean: C. L. R. James. The fact that their very names can be related to the examples set by the Rodney's is but one hint at the power of the legacy we are exploring in this episode.
