Tim Allen studied acting and he learned about subtext He learned about intention. So by the time we shot the pilot he was a trained actor. What happens if you have a non-actor, but there are a funny person You make sure the people around them can act really well And you kind of make the scenes actor-proof. The comedian wants to be reactive anyway because they're most often they're funniest when they're reacting to someone else.
