20 34 is a novel of the next world war. Sonario says he wrote it after reading cold war literature and thinking we are edging toward, if not in, a cold war with china. The united states has no allies - they've sort of fallen away from us according to sonario. And i think the idea of the book is we still have time. We still have time to increase our technology, to tend the garden of our alliances, to fix our disordered political house. I hope it stays as a warning and not as a poindeed.
