The Effects of Blindness on Hearing

Blind people have been shown to have enhanced abilities in the auditory domain. They can localize sounds in space better and they can discriminate frequencies better than fully-seated humans. What we didn't know is where the change in the brain actually occurs, according to a new study. It was assumed that it would be the visual areas of the brains that would react if you were seeing advances or enhancement in hearing.
