The Purpose of Zakats
Zakat is a way to purify your wealth. Islam favors more of a capitalistic mode of production, he says. No one has an obligation to save their money and this could be a means to get closer to Allah. He argues that the government can simply take Zakat from every person - not just those who have savings.
