Prof. Eric J. Johnson: Choice Architecture and Financial Decisions (EP.240)

The Rational Reminder Podcast

CHAPTER

Is There Absolute Free Will?

I love the idea of not just asking yourself about incentives, but asking about choice architecture. How does a good decision account for the fact that due to uncertainty in real life, you can still get a bad outcome? It's only by looking on a slightly broader view, what Danny Kalman calls the outside view, that you can actually see that this process is doing better. The discussion of free will in your book is fascinating. I learn an awful lot by reading philosophers or even they are unsure about whether free will exist or if it's a useful illusion.
