What Is Hypocrisy Versus Contradiction?
I like the distinction taught that Ryan drew between contradiction and what was it being hypocritical. I think in a way cynicism is an attempt to escape contradiction because it's an attempt to put yourself outside the fray, right? Like I'm not subject to the same kind of, you know, contradictory forces that are acting on everybody else. Circumvent contradiction. And maybe it doesn't affect so much our action, but I think it affects how far you're willing to go for your political project. It has to be a step further than Peter Sodoric concept of the cynical subject who sort of knows full well how ideology functions for them and yet acts despite.
