John is telling them about the gift of Jesus Christ as found in the gospel and he's offering it to them freely so that your joy may be full. John personally knows, he's seen, heard, touched, felt. He knows that joy comes from a relationship with Jesus and he wants everyone to experience the same thing. The good news is what we just saw. That God really is perfect.
