Mc Grath's Theology of the Reformation

The author's handling of the lutheran theologians of the period of seventeenth century protestant orthodoxy is truly lamentable. Mc grath shows no contact whatever with the ground breaking works on the theologians of lutheran orthodoxy by the brothers j a o proice and robert d Proice. The reformed attempts to assimilate luther to calvinist's double predestination is that of james packer in his edition of luther's bondage of the will. In terms of its substance and emphasis, the teach of later lutheranorthodox bears little relation to that of luther.
