The number of boats sailing across the Pacific Ocean with goods is a critical barometer for how healthy our overall economy might be. Logistics managers told CNBC that they have seen a 20% drop in ocean freight orders for the months of September and October. This comes on top of a report by the Commerce Department last Friday that while consumers are spending more, it's because prices are so darn high due to inflation.
