I began to feel that geometry was not ideal platonic form like it was for Joseph Albers. But rather that geometric abstraction was a reflection of this late industrial burgeoning digital society we were living in. So when I put a square into a painting, I didn't call it a square anymore, but it was a cell. The other squares had bars on them, so they were jails. And then I got the idea in a way that was a sort of existentialist moment for me.
