How Literate Are Some of the Cunning Folks?
In the British Isles, would it be common to see a cunning person in church? Certainly yes. The ones who were not seen in church that was often used against them if they ever did become subject to accusations of witchcraft. So we do see cunning women accused of witchcraft who might have their absence from church use against them or weaponize against them some way. It's one of my favorite cunning folk to study and research because there's just so much about her out there.
