React - I Did a Bad Job There

React was initially created by an engineer at Facebook by the name of Jordan Welk. It sounds like they were trying to evangelize it more or less and get people to use it there. From a design perspective, I think this is really interesting because it's not like what I was seeing from a lot of the top down approaches that other companies were coming out with. This was somebody at Facebook that just kind of made this thing organically as a solution to a real problem that we actually have.
