Sarah Lucas has a genius for boiling down something that feels to me a more first and often very toxic. She is so good at that sort of compression, making something so large into something so tight and elegant and streamlined. It's almost like she makes those physical, three dimensional, sculptural objects that you can then get up and walk around. That history feels more sort of present. What it's like to live in a body that's identified as female in the late 20th century and then the early 21st century.
