The Numbers in Genesis 5 Are Symbolic Numbers
Genesis chapter five is a list of people tit's clled a genealogy. The ages seem preposterous to us, right? They would have even been more preposterously to ancient israelites because they only had a life expectancy of forty years. So maybe these numbers are not talking about how long some one really lived. Maybe these numbers are being used symbolically. We find another clue in the brief story of enoch. Enoch walked faithfully with god then he was no more because god took him away.
