Who I want to live with is not a pursuit of independence. It's who I want to living with. If you were gay for instance until quite recently who you wanted to live with would have been against the law. But anyway let's get on to the question. The first chapter of our discussion will return to those issues which will become central - whether the desire for independence and the need for community are both fundamental to make us human, to what makes us human rather.
