God Sows a New People
We won't understand the melody, as it were, of matthew chapter 13 unless we hear it alongside the harmony of isaiah chapter six. Those two things, played together, bring to life what's taking place here. So jesus is comparing his ministry to previous ministries of prophets such as isaiah. But he is also presenting himself as the one who is sowing the seed of the rest ration that will restore god's people. This is the restoration that was promised, and it happens as god sows a new people.
