The theory behind hypno burthing, which i only got a little bit into, is that the more you're braced against something, the more painful it will be. The whole point behind it is that it's not the pain, it's the fear that the pain invokes. Even though we call them spiritual things, they help in practical things like childbirth and hospital procedures.
