The Death of the Chieftain System
Arlai's first full-length novel, Red Poppies, is based on a legendary folklore character. The book focuses on the extravagant and brutal reign of a clan of Tibetan warlords during the first half of the 20th century. Arlai recalls that the process of writing the novel was an odyssey for himself, albeit in his mind and heart.
