The Ideological Shift in Hollywood
The strike is different than the 2007 strike. What we're seeing is that ultimately, when you consolidate power into the hands of a few, you actually lose the ability to do good business. The most obvious problem with the Netflix model is there's nobody auditing anything that they do. And because no one pays for any of the shows individually or any of the movies individually, Netflix has no idea whether people actually like what they're putting out. All they know is whether there are more or fewer subscribers and they can kind of loosely associate it with new content.
