The committee decided that the straight in the vaccine should be something that was at XBB.1.something and there are a bunch of different XBBs. So it doesn't really matter if it's not exactly the one that's circulating now. And that was a very lucky break for Novavax because their vaccine takes a lot longer to make than the mRNA vaccines. Had VRPAC decided to go with another strain, they would have been left with product that they might have had difficulty selling.
