Rebecca Brooks gives an example of a story that The News of the World wanted to check out about a woman who, they were told, was selling her four underage daughters for sex. We used a listening device because we sent somebody in who had a listening device on them. That was subterfuge. You know, he's a reporter. He needed to get into the house. So, yes, and sometimes that is necessary. It's just the one element of whether you ever pay the police for information. And will you do it in the future? It depends on… You operate within the code and within the law if there's a clear public interest.
