The Taxonomy of Physical Activity
Roxanne Jones: We've got this big umbrella that we call physical activity. And we can divide that into kind of it creates like a bifurcated path where we could divide that into two broader categories. The first category would be non exercise physical activity, she says; the second is structured exercise. Jones: There's a lot of different terminology that's used depending on the context. But ultimately, some of these terms become less appropriate in certain contexts.
In today’s episode, Eric takes a comprehensive look at how physical activity and cardiovascular exercise can impact general health and weight management. Specific topics of discussion include non-exercise physical activity, exercise snacks, step counts, appetite, exercise energy compensation, interval versus steady-state cardio, the interference effect, and practical ways to incorporate non-exercise physical activity or structured cardio into your daily or weekly schedule.
