Redefining the Social Contract: Challenges and Opportunities

This chapter explores the notion of the social contract in Western democracies and its perceived shortcomings. It discusses the out of balance relationship between business, government, and ordinary citizens, highlighting the need to rethink the social contract in the face of technological advancements and increasing inequality. The chapter also discusses the idea of building a new social contract by redefining the roles and responsibilities of each partner, with a focus on rejecting neoliberal principles and emphasizing corporate social responsibility.
