The Importance of Classification in a Gendered World

The Library of Congress assigned the 1967 edition of Christine Jorgensen, a personal autobiography, the class number RC 560.C4 J6. The 2000 reissue from Clice Press was assigned the number HQ 77.8 J67. In both cases, the ideological bias of the classifier is revealed by the classification decision.
