The Life and Times of a Marine Surveyor
The Bay Hydro II is a two-year ship. The boat goes 20 knots. It can get down to Norfolk or up the bay in just a few hours. So, you know, I was actually, I didn't mind, I like the variety. There's three major stations on a survey boat. One person is monitoring the sonar, the sonar screen, making sure we're not about to hit anything. And then there's a person who's driving the boat and then there's an employee processing the data.
