In many religion, people practice complete fast as a way to cleanse their body. There are even idea that fasting can have huge impact on brain and people may come out of treatment resistant depression or something. So I should not comment whether that's good or bad. But hopefully in future, we'll see whether the depression, anxiety, mental health aspect will benefit from fasting.
