Serenna was treated as an outsider. She came in kind and naive and helpful and everyone treated her like crab, well, big surprise. Suddenly she's not sweet anymore. It could have called her sour Serenay,. It might have changed over time. John High Tower was game to try and not make the same mistakes. There's more to it than this. I find this angle really clever and insidious and cynical on Lord John's part. Remember that Aegon's mom was Lysani and she left when he was young. That's gonna mess you up, I think.
