Introduction
Earlier this year, South Korean President Yun suggested publicly the possibility that Seoul could develop its own nuclear weapons. Park Chung-hee actually initiated a covert effort to explore if South Korea could build nuclear weapons. The U.S., which was in a treaty alliance with South Korea just as it is today, got wind of this and effectively made putting the South Korean nuclear program back in the box a priority.
