The Process of Psychoanalysis
Psychoanalysis is one of the first talking therapies created by Freud. It's a non-directive therapy that asks people to talk about what they're thinking and feeling. The analyst will intervene from time to time but generally in ways that are quite brief and subtle. When you start doing it from the patient side, when you're talking you're not listening. And as you sharpen your capacity to listen to yourself, you start saying, well, I'm going to say this differently or I just said that differently.
