Ezra and the Exiles
The book of ezra begins with the record of the decree of cyrus in five 38 or five 37 b c. Exiles of judah were encouraged to return to their homeland and to rebuild a temple. Ezra himself would not arrive on the scene for another 80 years. Some commentators hold the position that this was likely a later wave of returnees.
