The Impact of Agriculture on the Earth

The amount of carbon in soil is twice what is in vegetation, trees and the rain forests combined. Soil exchanges carbon with the atmosphere every time they firo synthesize. The largest impact human communities have had on soil starts at the time when we started tilling the land to extract resources from the land. And specially in intensive agricultural cultivation systems, the physical stability of the land is destroyed by overtillings that make it easier for crops to grow.
