The Use of Hebrew in the Streets of Jerusalem

Hebrew was used to demarcate space by the british empire in their map-making efforts. It also served as a textual signifier of their formal commitment to zionism. In 19 17, that change changes dramatically because of british commitment to the jewish national homend. Hebrew is quite dramatically understood as a national and colonial language by palestinian arabs. And we see it already in the demonstrations of 19 20, where we see that one one hebrew sam signboard is vandalized by protesters who are protesting against the bolfor decoration.
