The doctor says he fell in love with nephrology as a resident taking care of patients in the ED. He learned about neonatal AKI from treating an extremely premature baby who had several episodes of AKI, and probably had very under recognized CKD for quite a period of time. "Not only are there things we can do when babies are babies, but there's things we can also do after they go home"
