The Problem With Pallet Whale Population Estimates
Bioni Mickelson is a marine mammal biologist at the Faroeys Natural History Museum. On the one hand, pallet whales are not an endangered species. But population estimates are really hard to figure out. It's thought that killing around 800 whales a year is a sustainable harvest. This is like the genetic equivalent of clear cutting the forest.
