Society has conditioned women and people of color, in particular, to underestimate themselves in modesty’s name. Yvell is the Metropolitan Transit Authority’s Deputy Chief of Organizational Design and Development. Prior to this, she spent nearly 15 years as a professor in the Black and Hispanic Studies Department at Baruch College at the City University of New York.
