The History of Light Pollution

Light pollution is not just skyscrapers and big city stuff. It's the individual humans home that has far too much light pointing up at the sky these days. An astronomer named Giovanni Chiaperely, who talked about coal smoke a problem in and of itself, said electric lights were wrecking his view from an Italian observatory.
