The Paradox of George III's Support for the British Parliament

For his generation of wigs, and he was a wig in the British Parliament, George III had come to the throne and disregarded the privilege that had ordinarily been given over to Burke's faction or party. So his support for them was an anti-George III stance essentially. What did he fear might happen if concessions weren't made to the colonies? Well his view was that if you couldn't conciliate America you would have to conquer America. If you conquered America you would need an army to do so. You would end up with George III mobilising troops in North America for the conquest of a country,. which conquest would not in any case succeed.
