Aristotle's Revolutionary Laws

Solon's most revolutionary contribution to the Athenian political system probably was his insistence that any male citizen could bring an indictment if he believed a crime had been committed. Aristotle considered their prohibition of loans secured on the person, the graph A, and the right of appeal to the law courts as the three most democratic features of Solon's constitution. Like Draco, Solon feared the concentration of power in the hands of a few great families. It was probably for this reason that he allowed childless men, like himself, to adopt an air by means of a will.
