Is Multilingualism a Part of the Middle Ages?

In Iron Age cypress, we have a lot of evidence for multilingualism. Sometimes people are making a definite choice: I'm going to write in this language... If it's political, then it will probably be strongly tied to the political identity of the area. And sometimes there are multilingual inscriptions. So an inscription where someone will have the same message or more or less the same message in, say, both Greek and Phoenician.
